Ta’Lana
Fine Art Productions was started in 1998 as a family owned business
devoted exclusively
to the production of high quality giclées. We remain
committed to and very excited about the giclée process and what it
offers everyone
from the artist, publisher, gallery owner and eventual
buyer.
We use state of the art in house systems to create profiles of all
our ink and substrate combinations. Industry leading software
and equipment coupled with our determination to produce the best possible
giclée for the
artist often produces dramatic results.
Showroom
We have a selection of giclées available at our new location. This
selection offers some excellent examples of the various reproductions
of oils, acrylics,
watercolors, pastels, pen and pencil.

Our Equipment
Our giclées are
known for their vivid colors, exceptional detail, and smooth
gradations. With
our Epson 9800 archival inks on canvas the life expectancy of a giclée
is about 69 years before noticeable fading occurs, depending
on substrate, lighting
conditions, etc. The reason for this is the interaction between
the inks and the various substrates.
Our Customers
We primarily work with artists, publishers, and galleries wanting
top quality reproductions for resale. We do not
do “one
off ” prints, that is to say if someone wants
one reproduction of their favorite
painting, we are not in that business.
Our Location
Our shop is located in SE Calgary, 10 minutes from downtown.
We ship our products anywhere serviced by express post, courier
or bus. Original
art on location is insured against loss at the declared value of
the artwork while on our premises.

Coatings
For canvas we offer Laminex's Satinex for a glossy finish or the Matex
for a matte finish. It is very flexible and doesn't. The
laminate will adequately protect the image from handling
and environmental effects
in a normal household or office setting. Giclée coatings
are not guaranteed to be waterproof and images may be stained or discolor
if
exposed to rain, excessive humidity, or in prolonged contact with wet
objects.
Sizing
Canvas
Allowing for at least 1" of border for streching, we can print
canvases 42" wide by almost whatever you want. Have our canvases
on a roll allow a great range in sizing. No longer do you have
to fit a certain number on a sheet as was previously done.
Paper
Our roll papers are only limited in their width of 24". Our
sheet papers are limited in size ro 24" x 36" or 44".
Cleaning
of giclées
Canvas giclées can be wiped with a clean lint-free cloth. Do not
clean with furniture polish, water or any other household cleaners.
Displaying giclées
You can hang your giclées in almost any area of your living
or office space. Avoid
steamy bathrooms where the excessive moisture fluctuations may cause
papers to buckle and inks to discolor on canvas or paper. Do not
hang directly over aquariums or humidifiers, nor in direct sunlight. Continually
changing heat and moisture conditions may cause the canvas giclées
to crack. Direct sunlight or continual high intensity lighting
will accelerate deterioration of any giclée.
From our customers we have had one giclée destroyed by cleaning
with cleaners and polish, one destroyed from displaying in a poorly
ventilated south
or southwest facing window, one from hanging above an aquarium,
several from stretching problems in our cold, dry climate, and several
from
contact with moisture or storage on a concrete floor. Do not store
on your basement floor. We have been hanging Iris giclées since
early 1998 and have had no problems whatsoever with our personal or
company displayed giclées.
Handling
and Storage of giclées
Handle giclées carefully avoiding contact with sharp objects. Most
damaged canvas giclées are a result of being hit against another
object, which cracks the base canvas preparation. Second most
common damage is from moisture. Avoid getting the giclées
wet. We have
transported our giclées to and from art shows in rain, snow,
and extreme cold conditions with no damage. If giclées
are handled with care and packaged well, they transport great.
Store giclées off concrete floors, preferably upright and
away from any direct heat, light or water source in a cool
and well ventilated
space. That
means do not store on your basement floor if you want them to last.
